Ditch the sacred morning chants, gratitude ceremonies, and hermetic substance cocktails – Says Jayant Padhi

A mail from Jayant Padhi titled My “Underwhelmingly Simple” Morning Routine has gotten me thinking…I am going to post it here ..I strongly feel that whatever Jayant says does have substantial weightage and it might trigger something in you too…

A snapshot of his mail ( Yeah I am a subscriber to his automated list ) is pasted below…I know it resembles a Haiku.. the number of words..the length of words and sentences , the dance of words…perhaps more so because I took the liberty of pasting the content in the WordPress “Pull quote” block format – yeah..It Looks awesome !!

Maybe you’ve tried greasy routines like…
Journaling by candlelight while listening to brainwave tracks
Fancy mushroom coffee
Sauna-bathing
Walking on grass for an absurd amount of time

The point is, many of us have gone a little overboard trying to optimize our mornings.

We strictly follow routines with next-level meditation techniques, and all sorts of fringe health rituals.

And for what?

By the time we’ve finished our three-hour morning spectacle, it’s nearly lunch.

Yet these routines keep getting pushed by self-proclaimed “gurus.”

Meanwhile, the real elite performers and crazy-productive millionaires and billionaires have been using an entirely different morning strategy.

One that most gurus don’t want to admit because it goes against everything they preach…

The morning routines of many billionaires, CEOs, and successful entrepreneurs are extremely simple.

Underwhelming even.

They wake up and…start working.

That’s it!

No mindfulness rituals, no sauna sessions, no butter-chugging.

They recognize that those crucial first moments after waking up are a sacred time and jump straight into the “flow state”.

A precious window where your brain is naturally primed for productive work.

So those elite performers simply wake up and start working on their highest-leverage tasks right away.

They don’t piddle around waiting for the “right” morning routine to put them in a productive mindset.

But your brain already shows up to work ready for flow…when you first wake up!

When I made this shift in my own life – divorcing myself from an overly complicated morning ritual – my productivity went through the roof.

I’d wake up and almost immediately “click” into flow, getting more meaningful work done by 8 am than most people do all day.

It was effortless!

My mind was clear, focused, and peak mental performance came naturally.

Because I wasn’t busy short-circuiting my brain by shuffling through a jumbled series of routines.

So here’s the simple, science-backed morning protocol I follow:
Wake up and dive straight into your most important work for 1 hours, taking advantage of your brain’s neurochemical flow state.
After that deep work session, do your preferred recovery and flow-boosting routines to recharge.
Prepare for your morning flow session the night before by laying out materials and next steps so you can work friction-free.
This approach lets you harness the productivity gift your biology gives you first thing – without the crushing morning routine other experts prescribe.

So ditch the sacred morning chants, gratitude ceremonies, and hermetic substance cocktails.

Those are afternoon activities at best!

Instead, listen to your biology and devote your freshest morning hours to life’s most valuable work. Your flow states and creative output will reach unheard-of levels when you stop sabotaging your brain’s morning magic.

Trust me, while the guru crowd gasps in disbelief, you’ll be too busy achieving your biggest goals before lunch to care.

Give it a shot this week and let me know if this morning productivity upgrade works as well for you as it has for elite performers!

I kind of connect with what he says – I generally wake up..all jumpy and excited…I resonate with his words to some extent. Typically, upon awakening, I am filled with anticipation and eagerness, eager to resume where I left off the previous night. Postponed are the leisurely barefoot walks on the grass, the weightlifting sessions at the gym, and the meditative moments of tranquility. They can all wait until I have finished and am in need of a pause!

So like he says – ” So ditch the sacred morning chants, gratitude ceremonies, and hermetic substance cocktails. Those are afternoon activities at best !!

The gratitude ceremonies can happen towards the end of day – you may like to read this Click here – it has some content about gratitude and related stuff .

Thank you Jayanth Padhi – for an another paradigm shift !!
